Deep Sea Fishing charters for Ballina,Byron Bay. Northern Rivers, NSW.

Ballina is situated at the mouth of the Richmond River. A large costal town, Ballina has all the facilities you would expect with extensive shopping, food outlets and accommodation.

Fishing is excellent in the surrounding area, a large river which is navigable for all the 88 miles to Lismore, offering Bream, Flathead, Mulloway, Whiting and the ever-present Mud Crabs. Freshwater fishing is popular for Australian Bass from about Woodburn upstream.

Beach fishing is abundant with the beaches to the south able to be driven on by 4wd, and rock fishing to the north from Ballina to Byron Bay.

Offshore the fishing is superb, some close reefs like Riordans, and Lennox are great for Snapper, Teraglin, Mulloway and Flathead with the Mackerel here from December to April. Wider reefs are where the Ballina-Byron region comes into its own. The local DPI Fad is famous for the quality Mahi Mahi during summer and autumn. The 32-fathom reef runs from Broadwater in the south to Byron Bay in the north. Catches of Snapper, Teraglin, Venus Tusk Fish, Mulloway, Pearl Perch etc are common. The wider reefs of the 36, 40, 42, 48 and 50 Fathom reefs produce all year around, with the bulk of the catch in Snapper, Kingfish, Pearl Perch etc in the winter/spring months.

The Pelagic fishery is just starting to be recognised for Marlin, tuna etc and will grow in coming years.

WHAT TO BRING
All you need is loose comfortable clothing, a jumper / raincoat depending on the day. Sunscreen and a hat and any food you may like to nibble on. A Great attitude is always welcome.
NO Alcohol is permitted, we ask that you act responsibly and not put yourself and others on the boat in any danger.
Sea sickness is a chance to those who don’t go to sea very often. We recommend you take a seasick tablet 1 hour before boarding the boat and another before we leave port. Various brands of tablets and old wives’ tales on the prevention of seasickness are out there, we find the use of Kwells to be the most consistent performer. I found the first 30 years the hardest to get over seasickness, but it gets considerably easier after that.
We DO NOT CLEAN YOUR CATCH, we feel this is part of the fishing experience. We will ice down the fish caught and distribute them to you upon arrival back at port. Bring a suitable esky to take home your fish as well as a fish scaler/ knife to clean your catch. There are excellent fish cleaning facilities adjacent to the Ballina Marina.
Pick up for your next Fozies Adventure is at the Trawler Marina at the end of Boat Harbour Road, Ballina.
